(Fort Lauderdale, Fla., March 12, 2010) - Paul Safran, Jr. (Fort Lauderdale) and John Steele (Washington), partners at the law firm of Roetzel & Andress were recent speakers at the Information Management Network's (IMN) 5th Residential Distressed Real Estate Forum in Hollywood, Florida. The Distressed Commercial Property/Residential Property Forum is part of IMN's series of Distressed Real Estate forums. This series uncovers the latest real estate opportunities in distinct asset classes (hotels, office, residential, retail), which is hosted in various local markets (Chicago, Las Vegas, London, New York, Phoenix, South Florida).
Mr. Safran focuses his practice in matters concerning real estate, finance and construction, including commercial and residential real estate transactions, workouts and loan modifications, foreclosure and REO issues, administrative real estate tax appeals, shopping center and commercial leases, municipal finance and EPA issues. He has extensive experience in the acquisition, management and disposition of distressed real estate and distressed mortgage assets including bulk acquisition/disposition of performing and non-performing notes and REO pools including matters such as negotiation, documentation, and due diligence concerning bulk asset pools.
Mr. Steele's practice focuses in the capital markets area with a heavy emphasis on real estate. For over 25 years, he has been involved with sponsors and issuers of real estate-related securities, ranging from small to multi-billion dollar securitization transactions, to funds formed to acquire and originate performing and non-performing real estate loans, to operating companies that originate for portfolio. He has closed several acquisitions and/or debt and equity financings to specialty finance companies.
