Roetzel & Andress Lands High-Profile IP Group in Washington

(Washington, June 8, 2010) ? The law firm of Roetzel & Andress is pleased to announce the addition of a nationally-recognized team of intellectual property attorneys as part of the continued strategic growth of its Washington, D.C. office. The new group is led by partner Dr. Sunwoo Lee, and includes partner Jon B. Crocker and associates Dr. Baldine B. Paul, and Benjamin E. Maskell, as well as patent agent Donald L. Monin, Jr. All were previously with Holland & Knight in Washington, D.C.

"We are pleased to welcome this group of distinguished practitioners to our firm, further enhancing our service to clients in the area of intellectual property," said Gary Adler, partner-in-charge of the Washington, D.C. office. "Their wide range of experience in the patent and trademark areas will greatly complement our current firmwide capabilities in the IP arena."

Dr. Lee and his team will counsel Roetzel & Andress' clients in all aspects of intellectual property law. Their practice includes the litigation of patents, trademarks, copyrights and trade secrets, and the preparation of opinions, licensing, due diligence, and client counseling on patent mining and strategic patent portfolios. They also assist clients with the prosecution of patents and the management of both domestic and foreign patent and trademark portfolios.

Sunwoo Lee, Ph.D.
Dr. Lee formerly led the patent practice at Holland & Knight, where he counseled foreign and domestic clients ranging from start-ups to Fortune 100 companies in all areas of intellectual property law. Dr. Lee is an accomplished lecturer and author on the intricacies associated with intellectual property of scientific products and processes.

Dr. Lee earned his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law, his Ph.D. from Syracuse University, and a M.S. degree from Stevens Institute of Technology.

Jon B. Crocker
Mr. Crocker has served as lead trial attorney for intellectual property matters on behalf of Fortune 100 companies. He frequently defends some of the world's largest manufacturers of electronics in patent and trademark infringement cases. Prior to entering private practice, Mr. Crocker served as chief of civil litigation for the U.S. Army.

Mr. Crocker earned his J.D. from the University of Miami, where he also obtained a LL.M. in international law. Upon gradation from law school, he earned a second LL.M. in military law from the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General's School, and his masters certificate in government contracting from George Washington University. He obtained his B.S. from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.

Baldine B. Paul, Ph.D.
Dr. Paul advises clients on transactional and litigation matters related to patents in a wide range of technologies, including Digital Television standards, MPEG video coding, JPEG image compression, DVD products and devices, and products and services for multimedia communications over the Internet. Dr. Paul received his J.D. from George Washington University, his Ph.D. from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and a master of science and B.S. degrees from Florida A&M University.

Benjamin E. Maskell
Mr. Maskell is a registered patent attorney who focuses his practice on the drafting of documents related to patents, trademarks and copyrights. He earned his J.D. from the George Mason University School of Law and his B.S. from the University of Virginia.

Donald L. Monin, Jr.
Mr. Monin prosecutes and drafts patent applications in solid state device-related technologies and systems related to the use of solid state devices. He is a previous patent examiner with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. Mr. Monin earned his B.S. from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
