Roetzel Enters Chicago Market

October 3, 2011
Offices: Chicago

(CHICAGO, October 3, 2011) - Roetzel & Andress LPA, a law firm with offices in Ohio, Florida, Washington, D.C., and New York, is pleased to announce that it has combined with Chicago law firm Lewis, Overbeck & Furman, LLP, effective October 1st. With this acquisition, Roetzel adds eight attorneys to its ranks and an established platform from which to grow a Chicago presence. Roetzel has aggressively expanded into new markets in recent years, with Chicago the third new office since 2006.

"Entry into the Chicago market has been in our plans for several years and establishing a presence in one of the nation's largest and most dynamic centers of business is a significant part of our firm's strategic growth plan," said Timothy J. Ochsenhirt, chairman and chief executive officer of Roetzel. "The attorneys of Lewis Overbeck bring an outstanding reputation for client service and legal excellence, along with practice focuses that complement those of existing attorneys in our other offices."

The attorneys joining the firm as partners are Tim J. Emmitt, Ryan M. Holmes, Douglas A. Lindsay, John W. Loseman, F. Richard Skweres and Robert A. Subkowsky. Associates are Brian T. Bedinghaus and Elizabeth A. Ward. These new attorneys will add to Roetzel's full range of legal services in the areas of Employment, Employee Benefits, ERISA, Trusts & Estates, Real Estate, Business Litigation and Business Services.

"Both firms looked at this combination over many months in great detail," said Mr. Emmitt, who will now serve as partner-in-charge of the Chicago office. "In all aspects, the conclusion reached was that the respective law firms' clients would be the beneficiary of the combined strengths of the two firms, with the resulting product proving greater than the sum of its parts."

Mr. Ochsenhirt added, "We plan to continue our growth in Chicago, and are looking to attract attorneys with entrepreneurial spirits."
