Overview

Don focuses his practice on energy and environmental policy with an emphasis on regulated public utilities, including oil and natural gas development. Because of his knowledge of the energy law and exploration and production activities, Governor Kasich appointed him to the Oil and Gas Commission which is an appellant body for orders of the Chief of Oil and Gas. He also serves as the appointee of the Governor to the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission which is a Congressionally chartered organization of governors and regulators for oil and gas production states. Prior to joining Roetzel, Don was state regulatory adviser to the American Wind Energy Association and American Clean Skies Foundation and worked with states’ utility commissioners as they adapted rules and regulations for the integration of renewable energy into the wholesale and retail energy markets.

Additionally, he has over 35 years of involvement in state and local government including county library, municipal government, natural resource agency, and public utility commission matters.
