Cleveland lawyer named to University of Akron board

Article

Ohio Gov. John Kasich has appointed Lewis Adkins Jr. to the board of trustees of the University of Akron.

Adkins is an attorney and graduate of Akron's School of Law. He is a partner and practice group manager in public law, regulatory and finance at Roetzel & Andress' Cleveland office.

Adkins' term on the board begins immediately and runs until July 1, 2025.  He is a Copley resident.

"Lewis is a great choice," said board chairman Roland Bauer in a news release. "He knows and loves this community, and he believes deeply in the university's mission and its critical role in the region."

The university has been struggling. New president Matthew Wilson has instituted a transformation plan, called "Stabilize, Invest, Grow" to rebound from a loss of students and a financial deficit.
