Law firm Roetzel & Andress for the first time has a chairman who is not based at its Akron headquarters.

Robert E. Blackham, previously partner-in-charge in Cleveland and National Practice Group chair, was named chairman, succeeding Jeffrey J. Casto.

“I am looking forward to continuing the progress and growth of the firm through my position as chairman,” Blackham said in a news release. He and Casto worked together the past year to ensure a smooth transition, the firm said in a news release.

Casto, who had been chairman for five years, will remain a partner at Roetzel in the Business & Commercial Litigation group.

The firm’s board also elected two new members:

  • Denise M. Hasbrook, partner-in-charge of Toledo and partner, Labor & Employment Practice Group, Toledo
  • Ronald S. Kopp, administrative partner, and partner, Business Litigation Practice Group, Akron.

Continuing as board members are:

  • Lewis E. Adkins Jr., Cleveland.
  • David P. Barker, Orlando, Fla.
  • Brian J. Moore, Akron.
  • Mark J. Price, Naples, Fla.
  • Douglas E. Spiker, Cleveland.
