Roetzel Continues Expansion with Addition of Two Attorneys in Cleveland

Roetzel & Andress announces the addition of attorneys Susan Keating Anderson as shareholder and Ahmer Sheriff as associate to the Employment Services Group. Both will be in the firm’s Cleveland office, focusing their practices in education law, representing school districts throughout Ohio.

Spiker, shareholder-in-charge of the Cleveland office and practice group manager of the Employment Services Group.  “Their assistance and counsel will give us an excellent opportunity to better serve our clients and school districts throughout the state. I’m excited to have them on board.” 

As a shareholder of the firm, Ms. Anderson advises boards of education and their superintendents, treasurers and other school administrators on a wide array of issues including personnel and student issues, evaluation and discipline, policy, contracts and residency disputes. Ms. Anderson also serves as chief labor negotiator for boards of educations and advises her clients in grievance proceedings, unfair labor practices and labor arbitrations.    Ms. Anderson’s representation of school boards also extends to investigating and defending against claims of discrimination and harassment, and representing boards of education before the EEOC, OCRC and in state and federal court. 
Previously named an Ohio Super Lawyer Rising Star, Ms. Anderson is frequently called upon to speak on various topics affecting boards of education and school communities at district in-services and statewide educational association conferences.  

In her labor and employment practice, Ms. Anderson provides general counsel to public entities such as municipalities and county boards of developmental disabilities as well as to private employers on a variety of workplace and human resource matters, including employee discipline and discharge, non-competes, employee classification issues, wage and hour disputes and labor negotiations, grievances and arbitration.  

Ms. Anderson received her J.D., magna cum laude, from Capital University School of Law, and her B.A. from The Ohio State University. 

Mr. Sheriff, an associate in the Employment Services Group, will focus his practice on advising municipal agencies, including public school districts, charter schools and other educational entities on a wide variety of general legal matters. Mr. Sheriff also has significant experience in special education and student rights. 

Mr. Sheriff received his J.D., cum laude, from The University of Akron School of Law, and his B.A., magna cum laude, from University of Cincinnati.
