Overview

Mr. Waters focuses his practice on wealth transfer and estate planning matters. He also counsels clients on general corporate, tax, transactional, and estate and trust administration. He has recently transitioned from being the in-house tax advisor for a collection of closely-held businesses in the real estate development market. In that role, he assisted on real estate transactions, state and local tax matters, and property tax.

Mr. Waters is well-versed in tax implications and filings for a variety of entities including S-Corps, partnerships and homeowner’s association and has reviewed the applicability of various tax credits including R&D, work opportunity and domestic production. He has created workbooks for employers illustrating SALT implications for entities doing business in multiple states and advising on steps to bring these businesses into compliance. His breadth of knowledge on tax matters enables him to propose business opportunities and tax-advantaged transactions for companies. Mr. Waters has represented businesses and individuals in federal and state tax controversies and audits by handling administrative appeals before the IRS, the Ohio Board of Tax Appeals and the U.S. Tax Court.
