Overview

Laura helps clients – small businesses, franchisees, and other entities – structure and execute real estate transactions, identify and pursue business opportunities, and understand and mitigate risk through sound corporate practices. With an MBA and extensive experience helping business owners and companies achieve their financial and strategic objectives, she is well-positioned to advise clients on a broad range of legal and business issues.

For owners and operators of quick-service restaurants and other franchisees, Laura drafts and negotiates purchase and sale agreements, disclosure documents, releases, and other relevant documentation. She helps clients acquire and dispose of real property and other assets and works to secure the funding they need to finance acquisitions and operations. And she guides businesses through the full range of legal and regulatory issues they encounter, from negotiating franchise agreements to raising capital, responding to franchising challenges, and other issues.

Laura's clients rely on her to protect their interests while managing complex transactions, like the recent sale of a QSR franchise she led that involved more than 200 locations in six different markets. They know that she will help them achieve their goals in a timely and efficient manner.

In addition to her franchising practice, Laura also provides a variety of real estate transactional services to corporate clients, governmental and quasi-governmental entities, and government-regulated industries, including conveyancing, financial services, property transfer, and condominium and association matters. She has particular strengths in advising park districts and public utilities on the acquisition and disposition of property as well as the preservation of public opinion in protecting property rights and preserving productive property uses.

Experience
  • Secured financing in excess of $40 million to fund a franchisee’s growth and refinance of debt as well as the separate sale of restaurants owned by long-time franchisees.
  • Navigated the successful acquisition of property for a park district that enhanced services available to the public and advised on cooperative arrangements with public utilities to further public uses.
  • Structured a transaction that involved the successful upgrade of utilities systems for a homeowner association and ongoing advising related to the needs of the homeowner entities.
