Overview

"Tell me what’s challenging you, and I will help you find a creative and effective solution."

Monica guides private and public sector clients through a broad range of employment law issues. She helps them craft and implement responses to new laws and regulations, like those legalizing medical and recreational marijuana across the country, and represents them in labor and employment disputes before state and federal courts and administrative agencies. In addition, she provides on-site training to managers and supervisors on employment law topics, such as preventing sexual harassment in the workplace and avoiding legal pitfalls in the hiring process.

Monica has particular strengths in conducting workplace investigations for private companies and public entities in high-profile employment matters, including, for example, sexual harassment and related conduct and discrimination based on race, gender, disability, age, and national origin. She has completed Title IX training and acted as a Decision Maker in a Title IX complaint filed in a northeast Ohio school district.

Monica also advises clients on education law, public law, and general litigation. She counsels boards of education on rules and regulations specific to the education industry, and regularly advises other public entities concerning all manner of legal issues unique to the public sector, such as compliance with the Sunshine Laws and the Ohio Ethics Law. In one notable matter, Monica was an integral part of the team that prevailed before the Ohio Supreme Court in a mandamus action where the court declined to issue the requested writ against her client and held that the client had complied with its legal duties. She has experience in all aspects of the litigation process and has successfully represented clients across industries in business disputes and tort cases.
