Overview
Sara focuses her practice on business & commercial and real estate litigation. She gained significant trial experience prior to entering private practice, including successfully prosecuting more than twenty felony jury trials as first chair lead prosecutor with the Office of the State Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit.
Since joining Roetzel & Andress, Sara has successfully obtained full and complete defense verdicts for a local municipality in two premises liability jury trials, with the jury in both trials returning full verdicts in favor of the municipality in under thirty minutes. In addition to representing a local municipality in premises liability suits, Sara builds upon her years of experience as a felony prosecutor to work closely with local law enforcement to address numerous community safety issues including successfully litigating petitions for risk protection orders. Risk protection orders were recently authorized by the Florida Legislature when it passed the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act, and operate to protect the community and enhance public safety. Sara also works closely with local police and fire departments to address litigation needs including preparing for and attending depositions, hearings, and trial.
Sara also represents restaurants, planned communities, including condominiums, homeowners’ associations, and country clubs in all aspects of pre-litigation and litigation. Her experience includes assisting these planned communities and restaurants as they worked through the COVID-19 pandemic and worked through the complexities of reopening especially with ensuring compliance with executive orders and best practices.
Sara’s jury trial skills are frequently called upon by other law firms to augment their trial teams and to successfully obtain verdicts and settlements in favor of a wide range of clients.
