Chambers and Partners Recognizes Five Roetzel Attorneys and One Practice Area in 2023 USA Guide

Chambers USA, the nationally recognized client guide of America’s top law firms and lawyers, released its 2023 edition that includes Roetzel & Andress among its prestigious rankings. The firm’s Environmental, Energy and Health & Safety Group has once again been identified as an industry leader in Ohio, while five of the firm’s shareholders have been individually ranked as leading lawyers in their respective practice areas. 

Independent and objective, Chambers USA is carefully researched and widely considered the most reputable law firm directory in the industry. Ranking criteria include technical legal ability, professional conduct, client service, commercial awareness/astuteness, diligence and commitment.

Roetzel’s Environmental, Energy and Health & Safety Group earned a Band 3 ranking in the practice area of Natural Resources & Environmental. According to Chambers, the group is a “well thought-of practice representing clients from a range of industries including petroleum and manufacturing. Possesses expertise in civil and criminal environmental enforcement actions, regulatory negotiations and permitting matters, and maintains a fine reputation for its representation of clients before various environmental agencies including EPA. Represents a particularly good choice of counsel for matters pertaining to the CAA.

Columbus shareholder Shane A. Farolino, Practice Group Manager of the Environment, Energy and Health & Safety Group, earned a Band 1 ranking in Ohio. Farolino has been selected by Chambers as a leader in the field of Natural Resources & Environment since 2004. Farolino offers a comprehensive practice, with experience spanning environmental litigation, cleanups, permitting and compliance. According to Chambers, “Shane is a sharp environmental litigator.” "His strengths include environmental litigation and negotiation, extensive working relationships within the legal and regulatory community, and a long history of success."

Terrence S. Finn, an Akron shareholder in the Environmental, Energy and Health & Safety Group, received recognition in Band 2. Finn has been selected as a leader in Natural Resources & Environment in Ohio since 2006. Finn is a well-regarded environmental lawyer with notable expertise in transactional and remediation work. His clients include both public and private sector bodies. According to Chambers, "Terrence is friendly, diligent and intelligent." "A very good environmental lawyer."

Thomas L. Rosenberg, a shareholder in the firm’s Business Litigation Group in Columbus, has been ranked again in Band 2 for Ohio Construction. Rosenberg has successfully litigated construction cases in courts throughout Ohio and the Midwest and has a reputation as an excellent trial lawyer. He has been honored by Chambers as a leading construction lawyer in Ohio since it began ranking U.S. law firms and lawyers in 2003. Chambers noted that Rosenberg is “quick, responsive and knowledgeable.”

Donald S. Scherzer, a shareholder in the firm’s Business Litigation Group in Cleveland, ranks in Band 3 for Ohio Litigation: White-Collar Crime & Government Investigations. He has been ranked by Chambers USA since 2012. According to Chambers, Scherzer is “a very knowledgeable, strategic and well-prepared lawyer.”

Earning his first ranking in Chambers USA, Naples shareholder Christopher D. Donovan has been ranked in Band 3 for Florida Litigation: Appellate. A member of Roetzel's Business Litigation Group, Chambers noted that Donovan “is a consummate professional and a skilled advocate.  He’s easy to deal with but also a fearsome adversary.”
