Do the CDC’s Guidelines on Mass Gatherings Affect the Way our Communities Operate?

Alert | Community Association Law Alert

CDC’s new advisory on gatherings recommends that for the next 8 weeks, organizations cancel or postpone in-person events that consist of 50 people or more throughout the United States. The recommendation states that events of any size should only be continued if they can be carried out with adherence to guidelines for protecting vulnerable populations, hand hygiene, and social distancing. End of Season events and parties in your communities are being canceled or rescheduled in order to protect their population.

For member meetings, Boards may consider postponing, canceling or conducting those meetings by conference call. Boards should evaluate their communities to determine whether any modifications to the use of common amenities are warranted to protect the health and welfare of their population. Communication is instrumental. Regular updates as to what actions the association is taking to step up cleaning, protect owners and employees, and monitor local, state and federal information, conveys that you are preparing, not reacting as this unfolds.
