Overview

Jamison is a member of the firm's Employment Services Group. His practice is focused on the area of workers' compensation, with an emphasis on employer representation and defense. Since 2006, he has represented and counseled employers, ranging in size from small family-owned businesses to Fortune 500 companies. In 2015, he was named a Specialist in Workers' Compensation by the Ohio State Bar Association. 

Jamison has represented state-funded, self-insured, and public employers in over 7,000 administrative hearings involving workplace injuries and occupational diseases, and routinely appears before the Ohio Industrial Commission. He also represents employers with litigation involving workers' compensation in the Court of Common Pleas and Court of Appeals throughout the State of Ohio. 

Jamison represents and advises employers with issues such as: initial claim applications, additional allowances, temporary total disability, permanent partial disability, permanent total disability, requests for treatment, alternative dispute resolution, jurisdiction and scope of employment, subrogation, wage arguments, requests for relief, settlements, and other contested issues. 

He counsels employers and third-party administrators about BWC policy, Industrial Commission procedures, risk management, claims administration, applicable case law, the negotiation and mediation of settlements, understanding potential future financial exposure, and helps clients manage their workers' compensation claims in a proactive manner. 

Experience
  • Successful defense of claim applications filed by employees with the Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and adjudicated by the Industrial Commission of Ohio
  • Obtained favorable orders from the Ohio Industrial Commission on a regular basis for all manner of contested issues including recognized conditions, treatment, disability, and wages
  • Successfully appealed Staff Hearing Officer order to the Full Commission, and obtained order vacating prior decision and disallowing claim in its entirety
  • Successfully appealed multiple Staff Hearing Officer orders to the Full Commission, and obtained subsequent decisions vacating prior orders after finding that Staff Hearing Officers had committed clear mistakes of law and mistakes of fact
  • Obtained order from Staff Hearing Officer vacating previous decision and denying temporary total disability, resulting in over-payment for employer in excess of $50,000
