Governor Extends Florida State of Emergency for 60 Days

Alert | Community Association Law Alert

Governor Ron DeSantis issued Executive Order 20-166 today, which extends the state of emergency in Florida for another 60 days. DeSantis initially issued EO 20-52 on March 9 for the entire state of Florida due to the coronavirus. The state of emergency was then extended for 60 days in mid-May.

This extension is critical to condominium and homeowner’s associations which have enacted policies to discourage the spread of novel coronavirus through the use of their statutory emergency powers. Those powers are primarily predicated on the state of emergency being in effect.
