Attorneys Islam & Makar Join Roetzel’s Naples Office

Roetzel & Andress is excited to announce the addition of attorneys Sameer Islam and Mikala A. Makar to the firm’s Naples office.  

A member of the Real Estate Group, Islam focuses on the representation of planned communities including condominiums, homeowners' associations, country clubs, hotels, mixed-use and industrial condominiums, and continuing care retirement communities. He assists community associations in all aspects of their day-to-day operations including compliance with federal law, including the Fair Housing Act, and Florida statutes and regulations. Islam has extensive experience in litigation, particularly mediations, arbitrations, motion practice, and has served as trial counsel through several trials with highly positive results for his clients.

Prior to joining Roetzel, he served as a litigation attorney dealing with homeowner and condominium property insurance disputes, and personal injury claims. Islam earned his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and his B.S. from Florida Gulf Coast University. 

Makar, a member of the firm’s Business Litigation Group, focuses on complex business and commercial litigation. She represents and counsels clients in a variety of matters involving tort, construction, real property, and business litigation disputes. Makar has experience in multi-party construction litigation and insurance law. Prior to joining Roetzel, Makar worked as a trial lawyer handling construction defect and commercial litigation. She also served as an Assistant State Attorney for the 20th Judicial Circuit of Lee County, Florida. Makar has extensive trial experience prosecuting felonies and first chairing jury trials.

Makar earned her J.D., cum laude, from Ave Maria School of Law, and her B.A. from Florida Gulf Coast University.
