Moriah Cheatham Williams Named 2022 ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award Winner

ATHENA Akron announced today that Roetzel & Andress attorney Moriah Cheatham Williams is the winner of the 2022 ATHENA Young Professionals Leadership Award. The award recognizes an emerging leader under 40 years old who exemplifies the ATHENA attributes and serves as a role model for young women. 

ATHENA Akron, an affiliate of ATHENA International, has an active chapter with members dedicated to bringing women leaders together while offering leadership programming and an opportunity to connect with strong, female leaders in the Akron area.

Cheatham Williams, a recent Crain’s Cleveland Business “20 in their Twenties” honoree and a 2021 winner of the Greater Akron Chamber “30 for the Future” award, is a member of Roetzel’s Products/Transportation Group. In her practice, Cheatham Williams defends insurance carriers, their insureds, and businesses against claims involving personal injury, property damage, and wrongful death. Best Lawyers® recognized Cheatham Williams as a 2022 “Ones to Watch,” which highlights promising young attorneys in the U.S. who have been in private practice for 5-10 years and have already demonstrated “excellence in the profession.” 

Outside of her law practice, Cheatham Williams’ community service efforts are far-reaching. She is a Barberton Community Foundation Board Member where she serves on the economic development committee, scholarship committee and finance committee. She is also a member of the Barberton Kiwanis Club, a volunteer with the Barberton Police Department, a volunteer with Barberton City Schools where she serves on the Key Communicator Committee to assist and coordinate community partnerships for the Year 13 Program. In addition, Cheatham Williams is a member of the Greater Akron Chamber Equity & Inclusion Committee, a volunteer with Barberton’s Community Holiness Church, serves as treasurer of The Honorable Betty Sutton’s campaign, and volunteers with Akron’s Bounce Innovation Hub. She is also a member of Roetzel’s Diversity & Inclusion Committee. 

Cheatham Williams will be formally presented with her ATHENA Young Professional Leadership Award during a November 17 ceremony at Hilton Akron/Fairlawn.
