Workplace Audits

Roetzel’s employment attorneys have developed robust workplace audit techniques that allow businesses to evaluate employment practices, policies, and procedures efficiently and effectively so they can detect — and develop strategies to eliminate — potential compliance violations before lawsuits are filed or state and federal regulators become involved.

Our attorneys work with businesses of all sizes and industries to develop best practices and train personnel on both technical compliance with the law and processes and procedures.

The primary goal of our audit program is to help clients ensure compliance with state and federal employment regulations, including immigration and I-9 rules, OSHA policies and procedures, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) anti-discrimination regulations, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, wage-and-hour requirements, employee privacy and HIPAA obligations, hiring and termination regulations, and other employment laws.

Equally important, our audits allow employers to identify and correct operational weaknesses that could lead to future problems and issues, improve the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of employment practices, and bolster good-faith defense arguments in future litigation.

In addition, our attorneys work with businesses of all sizes and industries to develop best practices and train personnel on both technical compliance with the law and processes and procedures to respond to other areas of vulnerability and risk, such as workplace violence, trauma response, and drug testing and abuse prevention programs. We know that teaching management and human resources to self-audit is a practical solution for avoiding compliance violations in the first place, so we regularly provide clients with training programs on a variety of topics.
