Equal Opportunity / Anti-Discrimination Law

Roetzel’s employment lawyers guide employers through the complex and continually evolving area of equal employment opportunity and anti-discrimination regulations. We help our clients reduce the number and frequency of claims, ensure quick and effective responses to employee complaints and regulatory investigations, and put systems into place that let them spot potential issues before they are raised by workers or the government.

Our legal team has extensive experience in representing employers before federal and state administrative agencies.

We know that the best defense against claims and investigations is to avoid them altogether, so we work closely with our clients to design strategies for reducing employment litigation and minimizing the effects of claims and disputes. We draft comprehensive, effective anti-discrimination and anti-harassment workplace policies. We develop systems for responding to complaints rapidly, including establishing procedures for internal investigations.

To help employers of all types and sizes establish and maintain safe and welcoming workplace environments, we also offer a wide range of anti-discrimination and anti-harassment training programs for management, supervisors, and employees. When claims are filed, we work with employers to promptly develop a plan for each dispute that identifies their principal objectives and lays out a clear and efficient path to success through early settlement of the claim, alternative dispute resolution, or litigating the dispute in court.

Our legal team has extensive experience in representing employers before federal and state administrative agencies, including, in particular, the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and Department of Labor, as well as the Ohio Civil Rights Commission.
