Roetzel & Andress is pleased to announce that Susan L. Friedman has joined the firm as a Shareholder in the Corporate, Tax & Transactional Group in its Cleveland office. Her practice focuses on estate planning, special needs planning, probate, estate and trust administration, business succession planning, guardianship law, and charitable planning.
Friedman works closely with families and individuals to meet their planning goals, whether they involve simple estate plans or complex estate, gift, and tax strategies. She also has a strong background serving as trustee counsel and acting as a trustee.
In addition to her planning work, Friedman structures family offices and collaborates directly with ultra-high-net-worth families on their trust and tax matters. She takes a team-based approach, coordinating with other trusted advisors, including financial advisors, to help ensure her clients' estates are in the best possible position. Her strategies focus on protecting assets in the least restrictive manner for both current and future needs.
“We are thrilled to have Susie join our team,” said Doug Spiker, Shareholder-in-Charge of the Cleveland office. Her knowledge of estate, trust, tax, and special needs planning will be a tremendous asset to our clients.”
Friedman has been recognized by Best Lawyers (2025), Super Lawyers (2025) and as a JD Supra Readers’ Choice Top Author in Wealth Management from 2023 to 2025.
She earned her J.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Law and her Master of Science in Social Administration (MSSA) from the Case Western Reserve University Mandel School of Applied Social Sciences. Friedman also holds a bachelor’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis.
